Mystery Man - Theophilus Netherlands
Son of Darius Netherlands
Grandson of Oneltz Netherlands.

Theophilus is half-brother to Dr. Phineas Crumpt, leader of the Thaumaturgic Cartographers. Their mother Polly, married Darius Netherlands after the demise of Thaddeus Crumpt, having been married only three years. Three years into her new marriage, Darius suffered the exact same death as Thaddeus; spontaneous combustion. Polly was now widowed with son Phineas 6, and son Theophilus, 3. These events left many to believe that Polly carried with her a curse.

As some began to research this, they discovered the similarities between these family events and the Curse Of the Crypt. Close friends of Thaddeus Crumpt new him to go on great adventures in the catacombs of Thenz, in search of the the Eyes of King Thenz, which were two enormous diamonds embedded in the shrunken head of the King. Crumpt many times encountered hexes, spells, curses and traps, escaping them all with the Anceint Stones, a deep magic crafted and forged into five gypsum stones. The Ancient Stones have yet to face a magic that is more powerful than what they possess. Crumpt must not have considered that he could be a carrier of a curse, unknowingly passing it on to his wife, who must have later passed it on to Darius.

It is worth mentioning that Thaddeus Crumpt’s remains showed no signs of the Ancient Stones. In fact, Polly, was found in possession of all five of them at the time of Crumpt’s death.

Theophius Netherlands was last seen and heard from, thirteen years ago, July 12th 1991, when he was abducted by the Skrye of Vekrelk. No one has heard from him since. Though it is known where the Skrye dwell, their lair continues to prove to be an impenetrable fortress in the mountains of Vekrelk. Even if one were to find the secret to penetrating their fortress, the utter and raw evil of these creatures, and their horrid “screech” drive all who tread near their lands into instant hypnosis. It is believed that Theophilus is still alive, but in a vegetable state, curled up in a pool of his own drool.

Though Phineas has designed seventy-one strategies for his rescue, all of them have proved unsuccessful. Rumor has been told that Theophilus contacted Phineas this year, leading on that he may have discovered a weakness of the Skrye; however most people believe this to be a hoax. No one has ever been seen again who has been a victim of the Skrye.
